Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of business principles. Intern-IT Business Analysis must be enrolled in an accredited degree program with a preference in a related field.

 

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

 

Responsibilities for this Position

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Administration Intern to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services.

 

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various projects of the GDMS organization and its clients. Key Responsibilities

The Information Technology Intern will assist with various IT initiatives and provide technical support to General Dynamics Mission Systems and our clients.

 

Responsibilities include: Representing Information Technology, spanning across all functions of the GDMS business. Candidate will support one or more of the major IT functional areas including Applications, Infrastructure, Governance, Cyber Security and Architecture and Engineering. Candidate will be expected to model Alignment, Value Creation, Honesty and Trust in partnering with the business to develop and execute on innovative solutions.

 

  Additional Responsibilities

The Information Technology Intern will be expected to:

  • Perform critical assessment of issues in various business areas to identify how improvements can be introduced
  • Provide guidance and assistance to support the successful implementation and enforcement of Information Technology solutions to business problems 
  • Be part of collaborative team attending meetings as required
  • Support delivery of IT services, following established Information Technology policies and procedures
  • Continue to identify potential areas of continuous improvement
  • Perform Hardware and Software Asset Auditing and Reporting. Verification of Auto discovery to system of record.
  • Perform Software input into tools (Vendor, Contracts, PO's, and Licensing)
  • Maintain Approved Software listing with Security and help identify gaps
  • Assist with Hardware Ordering for new hires and for lease refreshes.
  • Manage Networking lease schedules to ensure equipment is refreshed and returned to vendor on time in order to not incur added costs to IT.
  • Provide Training to new IT employees on Asset Management Policy/Procedures
  • Peripheral Inventory, Stock, and automate ordering to ensure techs/user have what they need.
  • Maintain updates to Team internal Webpages
  • Intern candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a basic understanding of Information Technology, and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems. 

 

  • Candidates will need to:
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel knowledge preferred
  • Be able to self-educate
  • Be motivated to learn independently
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Be effective in verbal and written communications
  • Possess demonstrated presentation skills
