Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.


Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting position in our sunny Orlando, Florida location. We are seeking a DevOps/Continuous Integration Engineer who will technically contribute to the Consolidated Product line Management Next (CPM Next) contract. You will be a part of the development of next generation military command and control (C2) training environments using Modeling and Simulation. In this role you will:


  • Contribute to detailed domain analysis of the Live Training Transformation (LT2) infrastructure, to support life cycle management as the foundation to provide Training as a Service (TaaS)
  • Manage and improve the Continuous Integration infrastructure to support unified automated builds and testing for multiple teams/projects
  • Drive the software Continuous Integration process, adaption/execution across teams
  • Implement tools and best practices for release, environment, and configuration management to improve build success rates
  • Review and assess current infrastructure in place and provide specific options/improvements to configuration management and flexible delivery system to increase quality of software and to improve efficiency
  • Act as a subject matter expert on DevOps best practices with Cloud Formation, Auto Scaling Groups, and Configuration Management Structure and maintain the software configuration management system
  • Automate and maintain the software build process
  • Automate software deployment and monitoring
  • Automate software testing at multiple levels (component, configuration item, subsystem, system) and monitor results
  • Monitor site stability and performance and troubleshoot site issues
  • Scale infrastructure to meet rapidly increasing demand
  • Collaborate with developers to bring new features and services into production
  • Provide support to development teams that use the automated infrastructure
  • Develop and improve operational practices and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritizing and organizing these tasks to maximize productivity
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Eagerness to tackle problems outside your core competencies and learn new technologies as required
  • Experience administering Linux and Windows systems
  • Experience in 24x7 production operations
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure environments (eg VMware, AWS, Rackspace)
  • Experience with Container based architecture and deployments (Docker)
  • Experience with Orchestration tools (eg Chef, Puppet, Salt, Cloud Foundation) and the software development process.
  • Experience with build-time dependency management (eg Ant, Maven); unit testing and code-coverage tools; test automation techniques and tools; and build automation tools (eg Jenkins, Hudson, etc)
  • Scripting languages (Ruby, Python, Perl, Gradle, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of automated code review and testing tools (Test-Kitchen, Cucumber, Protractor, Selenium Server, Jasmine, ATRT )
  • Real experience with AWS or other cloud environments (VPC, ELB, EC2, S3, EBS, etc)
  • Cloud Security working knowledge
  • Experience working with services-based architectures (SOA, Micro services, etc.)
  • Experience with repositories such as SVN, RTC, GitHub, GitLab, Artifactory, DockerHub
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) Tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Bamboo
  • Familiar with the principles of Continuous Delivery (CD), Continuous Testing, and Continuous Deployment
  • Experience with open-source monitoring tools like Nagios, CheckMK, Promotheus
  • Experience with log aggregation tools such as Splunk, ELK, LogEntries, AlienVault
  • Experience with Networking knowledge - firewalls, VPNs, proxies and load balancers
  • Experience working with Software tracking tools (eg Jira)
  • Experience with SAFe Agile or Agile software development practices
