Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
An AA Degree or certification in manufacturing area preferred.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Service Center Rework Operator. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Performs specialized manufacturing or production project tasks/assignments of more advanced nature ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables
Performs complex state of the art advanced fabrication or inspection functions in a research, production or pre-production environment
Builds or integrates hardware for prototypes, assemblies and large complex systems
Builds RF, multi-function cables and harnesses
Solders ribbons/strip line skills for RF performance
Reads and interprets moderately complex schematics and drawings
Follows more advanced methods, techniques, and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, & cable harnessing on subassemblies and units
Performs complex electrical tests
Performs more complex rework and refurbishment of hardware and systems
Performs complex incorporation of Master Change Order (MCO), Engineering Change Order (ECO), Variance Authorization (VA) and use of visual aids
May conduct manufacturing inspections on processing line in accordance to quality specifications
Performs inspection per documentation
Organizes packing, movement and protection of finished product
May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions
Performs more advanced fabrication and marking
Maintains and operates complex equipment/tooling
Performs more advanced loading and configuring of customer/standard software on customer device
Completes appropriate quality paperwork as required (e.g. Corrective Action Request, Discrepant Material Report etc.)
Accurately completes process paperwork and entering data into the applicable work order management system
Support continuous improvement activities and participates in problem solving activities
Maintains a clean and orderly work area
Supports safety/housekeeping standards
Mentors others as required
Contacts are primarily within immediate work unit, direct supervisor and the department
Normally receives little instruction on daily work; general instructions only on new assignments

Distinct knowledge of Statistics and SPC applications
Distinct knowledge of Configuration Control procedures
Distinct computer skills
Distinct knowledge of measuring equipment and math
Ability to use various computer software applications to analyze and manage data
Ability to cross train team members in complex tasks
Ability to lead team meetings and encourage participation
Ability to act as a role model for appropriate skills and behaviors
Ability to act as a liaison between other teams/functions
Ability to exhibit adaptability/flexibility
Ability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: Experience performing mechanical dis-assembly across a wide variety of Avionics and Disk enclosure assemblies. Also required is the ability to flex to other areas of the factory such as Production, Test Equipment, and the QRC build areas and give effective support when needed.
