Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting position in our sunny Orlando, Florida location. We are seeking a Sr Software Engineer who will technically contribute to the Consolidated Product line Management Next (CPM Next) contract. You will be a part of the development of next generation military command and control (C2) training environments using Modeling and Simulation. In this role you will:

  • Contribute to detailed domain analysis of the Live Training Transformation (LT2) infrastructure, to support life cycle management as the foundation to provide Training as a Service (TaaS)
  • Perform or lead activities in the Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) and Live Training Engagement Composition (LTEC) domains to include Interoperability requirements, designs and implementations, as required to support the LT2 Product Line
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Provide resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
  • May supervise or manage lower level employees
  • Lead technical tasks for medium teams or projects
  • Lead small technical proposals and contribute to medium-sized proposals
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Guide the successful completion of major programs and projects
  • Conduct feasibility studies and test new and modified designs
  • Perform or lead customer requirements analysis, develop system requirements and define allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
  • Contribute to detailed technical analyses at the system-of-system (SOS) level
  • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
  • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Provide engineering support to proposals
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments




PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Embedded Software development

  • Prior software development experience in design and implementation of military simulation or commercial game technologies
  • Mobile application development using C/C++, Java, OOD, UML
  • Experience with Performance tuning and optimization
  • Configuration management (Clearcase and Clearquest, SVN and Jira) and CMMI L5 software processes/metrics and Product Line Management processes/tools
  • Software requirements analysis (DOORS), software design, software implementation and software testing
  • Hands-On experience in all aspects of design, integration, testing, and simulation communication systems, US Army Training systems, test equipment and simulation systems.
  • Domain experience in the Modeling and Simulation domain in Live, Virtual and Constructive

 

  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Capability of full use and understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories and concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Highly skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
  • Ability to clearly report relevant information
