Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.  Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.  

 

 Candidates must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

 

 

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking a Software Engineering Intern (Paid) in our Scottsdale, AZ location to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers. Your Opportunity:

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country.  Your daily activities could involve you in requirements analysis, assisting design activities, coding and/or unit testing. In short, you will be exposed to the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). See how a talented software team operates and more importantly, become a valued contributor to that team.

 

To qualify you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited degree program majoring in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and have completed at least 2 years in your degree program 
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following languages: C++, C#, Java
  • Have a basic understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Have a basic understanding of the software development process
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Have good written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of embedded software development
